The former Brazilian leader has been arrested after authorities determined he posed a concrete flight risk while under house arrest.

The ex-president was found guilty of planning a armed takeover in the ninth month and handed more than 27 years in incarceration, but he was staying under home detention pending court reviews.

High Court Judge Justice Moraes said the decision to arrest the 70-year-old politician was a precautionary step after recent developments came to light.

This involved seeking to disable his ankle monitor and a invitation to a demonstration that could enable a potential flight.
